Brig. Gen. Prof. Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman has been doing this for twenty eight years. Up in Dhaka. MBBS and FCPS. He has that military rank. Brigadier General. Probably means he is pretty strict about time. His room is probably very neat. No messy papers on the desk. Just a pen stand and a prescription pad. People come in with hernias. Gallstones. The usual general surgery stuff. He just looks at their ultrasound reports. Tells them they need an operation. No long explanations. He has seen thousands of these. Just writes down the date for the surgery. The Dhaka traffic outside is loud. He just ignores it.

He does a lot of laparoscopic cases now. Keyhole stuff. Pumping gas into the stomach so he can see inside. He stands in the cold OT looking at a monitor. The screen is sometimes a bit grainy. He uses those long metal instruments. Clipping the gallbladder. Pulling it out through a tiny hole near the belly button. The junior doctors probably stand very straight when he is in the room. Military habit. He just works quietly. Maybe asks for a different clamp. The nurses hand it over fast. He finishes up. Stitches the small cuts. Takes off his gown. Washes his hands at the metal sink. That is about it.
