Brig.Gen.(Prof.) Dr. Mohammad Shafiqul Alam SPP

Professor Dr. Brig. Gen. Mohammad Shafiqul Alam SPP has spent many years working with patients who struggle to walk because of joint pain, sports injuries, or serious bone problems. He completed his MBBS and later earned an MS in Orthopaedics from NITOR. That is where many orthopedic surgeons in Bangladesh receive their specialist training. His learning did not stop there. He joined fellowship programs in Turkey for arthroscopy and joint replacement surgery, then continued advanced training in France, Germany, and Korea. He also attended the SAARC Arthroplasty Course in India along with the AO Trauma Course. Different countries. Different techniques. That probably gave him a wider view of treating knee, hip, and shoulder conditions.

Most people know him for joint surgery, especially knee and hip replacement, ligament injuries, and shoulder problems. Some patients visit after living with pain for years. Others come because an old injury never healed the way they expected. Every case is a little different. He has also spent a large part of his career teaching future orthopedic surgeons, which means surgery and classrooms have both been part of his daily routine. His research and training have kept him involved with modern surgical methods, though his conversations with patients seem to stay simple. No complicated words unless they are needed. The waiting area on consultation days is often filled with people from Dhaka as well as distant districts. Some travel for several hours. They usually want clear answers about whether surgery is necessary or if another treatment might be enough. That is pretty much what his practice has been built around.
