Smells a bit like burnt tissue in the room. He probably stands there for hours. Liver resections take even longer. Cutting out bad pieces of liver. He ties off the blood vessels. Sort of tedious work. The junior doctors just hold the retractors. Trying not to move. He finishes up. Puts a plastic drain tube in the side. Stitches the small cuts. Takes off his heavy gown. Washes his hands at the metal sink. Dries them.
