Dr. Arunangshu Das

Dr. Arunangshu Das is an associate consultant in oncology. MBBS and FCPS in radiotherapy. He has that BCS health tag too. That means he did the government hospital circuit. Probably spent years in some crowded upazila complex handing out paracetamol before getting into cancer care. Now he sits in a much quieter room. A stack of green patient files on his desk. People come in looking exhausted. They hand over biopsy reports. He just reads the typed lines. Tells them if the tumor is shrinking. Or growing. He does not use a lot of medical jargon. Just plain words. He writes down the next appointment date on a small slip. The edges are usually torn.

Radiotherapy is mostly about angles and doses. He goes down to the machine room. Usually in the basement because of the radiation. The air down there always feels a bit stale. He checks the computer plans. Making sure the beams hit the right spot. The technicians draw those red and blue marker lines on the patients. He just nods if it looks right. The heavy lead door slides shut. The machine buzzes. Patients lose weight during the treatment. They complain about feeling sick all the time. He just tells them to drink more fluids. Maybe prescribes an anti-nausea pill. He signs the daily log book. The pages are a bit yellow. He goes back to his desk.
