Dr. Asif Aman

Dr Asif Aman works as a consultant. MBBS. FCPS. The waiting room fills up by 9 am. Plastic chairs. A ceiling fan making a small clicking sound. Old magazines on a scratched glass table. People wait quietly. Some cough. He sees regular cases. Fevers. Stomach bugs. Back pain. Sometimes something worse walks in. He takes his time though. Looks at the old medical records. Flips the pages. Writes the prescription slowly. Handwriting is messy. Hard to read. Just like most doctors anyway.

Fifteen years plus doing this. Maybe more. The FCPS took a lot of late nights studying. He does not mention it. Just asks where the pain is. Checks the blood pressure. The cuff looks old. Pretty much the same routine every day. No fancy screens in the cabin. A wooden desk with water marks. A stool for the patient. A small steel tray with cotton balls and a stethoscope. He listens. Nods. Writes something down. Probably a routine antibiotic. Maybe just vitamins. Depends on what the patient says. People go to him because they know the name. They bring their mothers. They bring their kids. Simple. No extra paperwork. He gives you the slip. You walk down to the pharmacy. That is it.
