Dr. Kamal Pasha

Dr. Kamal Pasha is an interventional cardiologist. Consultant. He has a bunch of foreign fellowships. FAPSIC. FSCAI. FACC from America. Just a lot of letters. He probably sits in a cold room looking at echo reports. People come in holding their chest. Or after a bad heart attack. He looks at the ECG strips. Long pink paper with jagged lines. He tells them they need an angiogram. Just to see inside the pipes. No big cuts. Just a wire through the wrist. He writes down the admission date. The pen probably scratches a bit on the paper. He tells them to stop eating heavy beef. They just nod.

He spends most of his time in the cath lab. It is basically a dark room with a huge X-ray machine. He has to wear a heavy lead apron. Probably hurts his back after a few hours. He pushes a thin wire up the arm into the heart. Watching a black and white monitor. Squirting dark dye to see the blockages. Sort of looks like tree branches on the screen. He finds a tight spot. Pushes a tiny balloon in. Blows it up. Puts a metal stent there to keep it open. Takes maybe thirty minutes. The patient is awake the whole time. Just lying under the cold sheets. He pulls the wire out. Presses hard on the wrist to stop the bleeding. Takes off the heavy apron. Goes to sit down.
