Dr. Kuntal Das works as a general surgeon, dealing with both planned operations and cases that arrive without much warning. He completed his MBBS under the University of Dhaka and later earned the FCPS in Surgery. He also holds the FMAS qualification from India. His work covers many common surgical problems. A patient may come with a painful hernia, gallstones, appendicitis, or a swelling that needs closer examination. Another may arrive through an emergency department with severe abdominal pain. The situations are not always the same.

Abdominal and gastrointestinal surgery are regular parts of his practice. He also performs hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, thyroid procedures, and other smaller operations. Trauma cases can be different again. There may be little time to go through a long medical history, so examination and quick investigation become important. For planned surgery, patients usually have more time to ask questions. How long will the operation take? When can normal food be started? How many days might recovery need? Those are pretty normal things to ask. Not every patient needs surgery immediately. Sometimes medicine or further testing comes first. He also provides postoperative care, where wound checks, pain, fever, and other small changes need attention. Patients often arrive carrying ultrasound reports, blood tests, and previous prescriptions in a folder. He goes through the information, examines the patient, and discusses what needs to happen next. Some operations are routine. Some are not. General surgery has plenty of both.
