Dr. Md. Meshkat Uddin Khan

Dr. Md. Meshkat Uddin Khan is an Associate Professor at CIMCH. General surgery. Mostly colorectal and laparoscopic stuff. MBBS and FCPS. His room is probably at the end of a long corridor. The floor tiles are that faded green color. People wait outside sitting on metal chairs. Colorectal issues are hard to talk about. Older men with fistulas. People with bad stomach pains. He just asks them when it started. Writes down the symptoms on a prescription pad. The pen probably has a chewed cap. He tells them they need a colonoscopy. Or maybe just some fiber supplements. Depends on the case. No big medical words. Just basic instructions. Eat more vegetables. Drink water. Up in the surgery ward he does the laparoscopic cases. Putting small tubes through the stomach. He watches a screen mounted on a metal stand. The picture is sometimes a bit grainy. He uses long instruments to cut out an appendix. Or fix a hernia. Sort of looks like using chopsticks. The OT nurses hand him the clips. He probably stands there for a couple of hours. His back might hurt a bit. Chittagong weather makes the hospital walls sweat. But the OT is cold. He finishes the surgery. Pulls the ports out. Stitches the small holes. Just two or three knots. He takes off the green gown. Leaves it on a chair.
