Dr. Md. Sahab Uddin
Assistant Registrar
About Dr. Md. Sahab Uddin
CIMCH gets pretty crowded by mid-morning. The waiting area outside the OT usually smells like floor cleaner and old tea. Dr. Md. Sahab Uddin works in there. Assistant Registrar in anesthesiology. MBBS and MD. He is the guy who handles the spinal blocks and the IV lines before the surgeons even walk in. Probably spends most of his day looking at monitors. Green lines bouncing across a black screen. Just making sure the oxygen levels stay where they should. Nothing glamorous. Just adjusting dials and checking the tape holding the tubes in place. The AC is always turned up way too high in those rooms. He probably wears one of those faded blue scrub caps. Most patients do not even remember his name. They are too nervous about the surgery anyway. He just tells them to count backward from ten. Sometimes they only make it to seven. Then he sits on a stool near the head of the operating table for a few hours. Sort of a quiet job compared to the rest of the hospital. Chittagong traffic is loud outside but the OT is mostly just machine noises. He writes down numbers on a clipboard every few minutes. Blood pressure. Heart rate. Making sure the patient stays asleep. Then making sure they wake up in the recovery room. Just another shift.
