Dr. Md. Salim Reza

Dr. Md. Salim Reza is a senior consultant in oncology. MBBS, DMRT, FCPS. Radiotherapy mostly. His office is probably down a quiet hallway. People sit outside holding those big yellow envelopes with CT scans. He just pulls the films out. Clips them to the light board. He looks at the dark spots. Tells the family what the plan is. No big promises. Just numbers. Twenty sessions. Maybe thirty. They usually just stare at the desk. He writes down the dates on a piece of paper. The paper is probably a bit thin. He tells them to eat soft food if the radiation is near the throat. Just basic advice.

Radiotherapy machines are usually in the basement. Thick concrete walls so the radiation does not leak. He goes down there to check the setups. The technicians use permanent markers to draw lines on the patients. Just black crosses on their chest or neck. So the machine lines up right. He looks at the computer screens outside the heavy door. Adjusting the angles. The machine makes a loud humming noise when it runs. Takes maybe five minutes a patient. He probably drinks a lot of lukewarm tea from a thermos during the shift. Just staring at the monitors. He signs the treatment cards. Puts his pen in his pocket. Walks back upstairs.
