Dr. Muslina Akther

Dr. Muslina Akther is a Professor in Gynae and Obs at Chattagram International Medical College Hospital. She finished her MBBS from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College in 2000. Then MCPS in 2009 and FCPS in 2013. She worked as registrar at BBMH USTC for about three and half years, then moved to assistant professor at CIMCH, later associate professor, and now professor. The gyne department at CIMCH stays busy from morning. Women sit on the benches outside with their files and water bottles. Some have small kids tugging at their clothes. Dr. Muslina sees plenty of pregnancy cases, deliveries, menstrual problems, and other regular women’s issues. She does ward rounds and handles surgeries. The rooms feel ordinary. Exam table with the faded sheet. Ultrasound machine that sometimes needs adjusting. Metal trolley with instruments and gloves. Fans run but the air gets warm and stuffy by midday. Patients come from different parts of Chittagong and nearby areas. Many bring family members who wait outside asking questions. She has been working in the hospital for years now. Started here as assistant professor and kept going up. That long time shows when she manages the daily load. Not every case is complicated. A lot are just follow-ups, blood pressure checks, and medicine advice. Corridors stay noisy with footsteps and voices calling names. She talks to patients directly and explains things without too much medical jargon. Some days the OPD runs longer than expected.
