Dr. Rabeya Akhter

Dr. Rabeya Akhter has been working in obstetrics and gynaecology for more than twenty years. Women usually come to her with very different concerns. Some are planning a pregnancy. Some need help with infertility. Others are worried about ovarian cysts, abnormal bleeding, or changes that need further investigation. She completed her MBBS and later earned a Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics from the University of Dhaka. She also received advanced training in Bangkok, including the FWHO qualification and postgraduate training in gynaecological oncology. Those extra years of learning gave her experience with conditions that often need careful planning before treatment begins.

Her work includes pregnancy care, infertility management, hysteroscopy, ovarian cyst surgery, and treatment for diseases affecting the female reproductive system. She also manages patients who require closer observation because of complicated or high-risk conditions. Not every woman who visits her needs an operation. Quite a few only need proper evaluation, regular follow-up, or a clearer explanation of what their test results actually mean. That happens more often than people think. She has also spent years teaching young doctors, so discussing medical issues in plain language seems to be part of her routine. Clinic days are usually busy. Mothers come with daughters. Husbands wait outside with investigation files and prescription envelopes. It is a familiar picture in many gynecology clinics across Bangladesh. She checks the reports, answers the questions one by one, and decides on the next step based on what is in front of her. Nothing more than that.
