Dr. Rozana Rouf

Dr. Rozana Rouf is an associate consultant in internal medicine. Up in Dhaka. MBBS and FCPS. Internal medicine is pretty much just a bit of everything. People come in with fevers that will not stop. Or blood pressure that keeps jumping around. She probably sits in a small clinic room. The AC humming in the background to block out the Dhaka traffic noise. Honking cars and rickshaw bells. She just looks at old test reports. Lots of CBCs and random blood sugar numbers. The papers are usually folded up in someone's pocket. She flattens them out on her desk. Just running her pen down the columns. She asks them what they ate. How they sleep. Basic questions.

She checks their chest with a stethoscope. The rubber tubing is probably a bit faded. Just listening for crackles or wheezing. Lots of dust in the city air anyway. People cough a lot. She writes down some medicine names on a pad. Paracetamol. Maybe some gastric pills. Nothing complicated. She tells them to drink more water. They probably forget. She just hands the paper over. Tells them to come back in a week if the fever stays. Sort of a repetitive job. Seeing the same symptoms all day. She finishes writing. Puts the cap back on her pen. Calls the next patient.
