Dr. Tasnuva Iqbal

Dr. Tasnuva Iqbal is an assistant professor at CIMCH. General surgery. Breast and colorectal stuff mostly. MBBS. FCPS. Some UK degree too. MRCSEd. Probably took a lot of written exams for that one. Her consultation room is usually full of women. Finding a lump makes people panic. She just feels it with her fingers. Tells them to get an ultrasound from the imaging place across the street. Or older patients come in with bowel issues. Piles. Fissures. Awkward things to talk about. She just asks direct questions. How often. Any bleeding. No point being shy. She writes the answers on a blank sheet of paper. The ceiling fan above her desk probably squeaks a bit. When she operates it is mostly laparoscopic cases. Keyhole surgery. Pumping carbon dioxide into the stomach so there is room to move around. She holds these long metal sticks. Looking up at a monitor instead of down at the patient. The screen just shows pink tissue and yellow fat. She cuts out gallbladders. Or fixes hernias. Burning the blood vessels closed so they do not bleed. It smells a bit like burnt hair in the room. She finishes up. Pulls the camera out. Just puts a small square bandage over the belly button. Patients usually go home the next day. She takes off her gloves. Drops them in the red plastic bin. Goes to write the operation notes.
