Professor Dr. Shahla Khatun

Professor Shahla Khatun is a senior specialist in Gynaecology & Obstetrics with more than 30 years of professional experience. She currently serves as a Senior Consultant / Specialist at Green Life Hospital, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Her academic credentials include MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, FCPS from Bangladesh and Pakistan, MRCOG and FRCOG from the UK, FICS from the USA, and ECFMG certification.

Her professional journey includes several major appointments in Bangladesh and abroad. She has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at BSMMU from 2015. She was also named a National Professor by the Government of Bangladesh in 2011 for her lifelong contribution to women's healthcare.

Her earlier career included postgraduate clinical training under a government scholarship at leading UK hospitals from 1966 to 1968. These included Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Bradford General Hospital, Chelsea Hospital for Women, and Hammersmith University Hospital in London. She later worked as a Visiting / Clinical Fellow at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, USA, from 1975 to 1990.

Professor Shahla Khatun began her professional career at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, serving as House Surgeon and Assistant Registrar between 1961 and 1965, with additional responsibilities as Registrar and Resident Surgeon. Her long academic and clinical career has focused strongly on women's healthcare and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
