About
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali is a Chief Consultant in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. His qualifications include MBBS, FCPS in Surgery, FRCS from Edinburgh and FACS. He also completed advanced fellowship training in Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation in Queensland, Australia, followed by further liver transplant training in Japan.
His career has been closely associated with the development of hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery in Bangladesh. He established the first Department of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery at BIRDEM General Hospital in 1999 and initiated the first successful liver transplantation in Bangladesh there in 2010. He also founded the National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh in 1999.
