Professor Dr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed

Prof. Dr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed is a Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon with MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. He also holds FICS from the USA and has received fellowship training through WHO programs in Singapore and India. His career in cardiac surgery goes back several decades. He worked at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital (NICVD) from the early stages of open heart surgery in Bangladesh and later served as Resident Surgeon, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery. His surgical work includes coronary bypass surgery, valve surgery, congenital heart operations and vascular procedures. He has performed thousands of cardiac operations during his career, including open heart and beating heart bypass procedures.

Dr. Nasir Uddin Ahmed has also been involved in complex cardiac surgery cases that required careful planning and experienced surgical teams. His work has included valve replacement, pediatric congenital heart surgery and different forms of coronary bypass. He has presented scientific papers at medical meetings in Bangladesh and abroad, including an international meeting of the Royal College in Madras, India. He currently works as a Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Universal Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka. Cardiac surgery can mean long hours in an operating room and plenty of follow up afterward. A bypass patient, a child with a congenital defect and someone needing valve replacement all need different care. His career has covered these different cases for many years.
