Dr. Khalequzzaman Dipu

Professor Dr. Khalequzzaman Dipu is an orthopedic surgeon based in Dhaka. His journey started in Gazipur, where he ranked second in the district in the SSC examination. Later he studied at Notre Dame College and completed his MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College. Those details matter because many patients in Bangladesh still pay attention to a doctor’s academic background when choosing where to go.

He began working in orthopedics at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital as a resident doctor. Years later he earned an MS in Orthopedic Surgery from Dhaka Medical College. That is the highest postgraduate surgical qualification in orthopedics in Bangladesh. He then went to Fortis Hospital in India for fellowship training in arthroscopy and joint replacement surgery. Since 2017 he has been focusing on knee ligament reconstruction and total knee and hip replacement procedures.

At Universal Medical College, he joined as an assistant professor in 2020 and became an associate professor in 2022. He has also published research papers in medical journals. Outside the operating theatre, he writes health columns and appears on television and radio programs to discuss bone and joint problems in simple language. Patients often mention that he listens carefully before recommending surgery. The clinic days can get busy, especially with people coming from Gazipur, Tongi, and nearby districts. Still, he seems to prefer explaining things slowly rather than rushing through appointments.
