Now she is back in Chittagong. Her room is on the pediatric floor. Usually smells like baby powder and floor disinfectant. Mothers bring in thick plastic folders. Filled with old prescriptions and vaccination cards. The edges are always curled up. She just flips through them. Looking for the polio dates. Or checking weight charts. She just tells them the fever will take another day to break. No big promises. She finishes the round. Washes her hands at the sink. Dries them on a paper towel. Goes back to her room.
