Dr. Saifuddin Rokon

Dr. Saifuddin Rokon is an Assistant Professor at CIMCH. Orthopedic surgery. He sees patients in the outpatient department on the ground floor. The room is probably cramped. A rusty ceiling fan spinning slowly. Chittagong gets really humid by noon. People come in with bad knees. Old men with wooden walking sticks. He looks at their X-rays against the window light. Just checking the joint spaces. He tells them to lose weight. Maybe prescribes some basic painkillers. Nothing fancy. Just standard advice. He teaches the junior doctors too. Shows them how to read a pelvic fracture film. They stand around his desk taking notes. Sort of a routine morning. Then he goes up to the OT. Ortho surgeries take a while. Lots of metal plates and screws. He probably fixes a lot of broken arms from kids falling off walls. Or motorcycle crashes from the GEC intersection. He wears heavy lead aprons for the C-arm machine. Sweats a bit under the surgical lights. The nurses hand him drills and bone nibblers. Sounds like a construction site in there. He puts the pieces back together. Screws them tight. Washes his hands with that pink liquid soap. Tells the family outside it is done. They ask how long until the patient can walk. He says maybe a few months. Depends. Then he goes to his car.
