Cantonment Board General Hospital is in Chattogram. Up in Baluchara near Bayazid. The roads around the cantonment are usually a bit cleaner. People from local neighborhoods go there when they get sick. You walk in and there is a reception desk. They use a mobile number. 01819-051188. Sometimes it rings a few times before someone picks up. The waiting area has standard metal chairs. People sitting around with medical files. They have a diagnostic section too. You can get a digital X-ray or basic blood tests done. Pathology, hematology, that sort of stuff. The lab technicians draw the blood into small tubes and tell you to come back later for the report.
They handle a lot of different things. Maternity services are pretty busy. Pregnant women coming in for checkups or delivery. They have an operation theater for emergency surgeries. If someone needs blood, they do transfusions. The wards have the basic stuff. Oxygen cylinders standing in the corner. Nebulizers for kids with asthma or breathing trouble. Happens a lot in winter anyway. They even have phototherapy machines for newborn babies with jaundice. Just the blue lights over the crib. Sometimes they use a suction machine. If things get too complicated, they have an ambulance parked outside to move patients to a bigger hospital. You just pay the bill at the counter. That is how it runs.
