About Jashore Medical College
Jashore Medical College (JMC) is a government medical college and teaching hospital located at Chachra, Shankarpur, Jashore-7400. Established in 2010, the institution is associated with Sheikh Hasina Medical University, Khulna, and operates under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). It offers a five-year MBBS course followed by a compulsory one-year internship. The MBBS degree is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).
Jashore Medical College Hospital is a 500-bed teaching hospital and one of the major government healthcare facilities in southern Bangladesh. It has 17 operation theatres, including 12 general, two emergency, one labour room, and two daily procedure theatres. The hospital has the capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 patients and provides 24-hour emergency services, ICU care, OPD services, and a wide range of specialized treatments.
The hospital provides digital X-ray, multi-slice CT Scan, USG, ECG, and pathology services. Specialized departments include Cardiology, Pediatrics, Neuromedicine, Gynaecology, Cancer Care, Urology, and Radiotherapy. PGT training, postgraduate training opportunities, academic activities, research, and residency programs are also available.
JMC admits around 100 students annually through the government medical admission system. With its combination of medical education, patient care, training, and research, Jashore Medical College has become an important government healthcare and medical education center in southern Bangladesh.
