About Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic hospital, Jashore

Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic Hospital, Jashore is a humanitarian healthcare project established by the Lions Club of Jashore Kapotakkho. The club began its journey in 1986 with a commitment to serving people in need. Its eye care initiative started on a small scale in a rented house at Kadamtala. With growing demand, the club purchased land at Hushtala Road, Bakchar, Jashore, to establish a permanent hospital.

The Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic Hospital was inaugurated on January 1, 1992. Over time, it developed into a 32-bed eye hospital with a two-storied building on 58 decimals of land. Support from Lions leaders, local donors, club members, and international organizations helped the hospital expand its services and equipment.

LCIF provided US$48,000 in financial assistance, while Sight First International contributed US$15,205 and supported the hospital with ophthalmic equipment and IOL surgery training. IOL surgery started at the hospital in October 1999. Later, the Lions Club established a dedicated Diabetic Unit to provide modern treatment facilities for diabetic patients.

With its focus on eye care and diabetes treatment, Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic Hospital continues to serve the people of Jashore. Its development reflects years of community support, humanitarian efforts, and the commitment of Lions members to improving healthcare access in the region.
