Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College. Long name. People probably just say Monsur Ali. It sits on Road 10 in Uttara. House 26 and 26A. Right next to each other. Traffic on that road gets bad around late afternoon. CNGs blocking the gate. You call 09643-100300 for an appointment. The line rings for a while. Maybe someone picks up. Maybe you try twice. The building looks older. White paint turning grey near the entrance. The lobby smells like floor cleaner. Crowded by 10 am. People standing around the front desk. Security guards looking tired. Pointing to the elevators. The elevators are slow. Pretty much what you expect from a big Dhaka hospital.
They have their own diagnosis center inside. That is useful. You do not need to go across town for a blood test or an X-ray. Just go downstairs. The pathology waiting area has plastic chairs. A TV playing something nobody watches. Nurses walk fast holding syringes and trays. They say they have all kinds of facilities here. Probably true. Beds are full. ICUs running. Canteen on the ground floor makes sweet tea. Families sit there waiting. Looking at their phones. Nobody looks relaxed. It is just a regular hospital doing regular hospital things. You get the test report the next day. Pay at the desk. Go home.
